¡Week 2! Chapter 4-6

This is my third entry. I'm gonna talk about a character of the book that catches my attention but first, I want to share my comments about these 3 chapters.

They are different than the last ones, now, we can see reasonable persons and two opposing forces in the book: the persons that have the privilege of using their intellectuality and the ones who are guided by the World Controllers and are under Soma effects. On the other hand, the first 3 chapters only described the world characteristics and average persons (also why and how they remove feelings, emotions, and possible personalities as well as their addiction of sex).

Now, the characters that are more interesting in these chapters are Bernard Marx and Helmholtz Watson. I want to talk about Bernard. In the firsts chapters, he is shown as a rational person (an alpha plus) but in these chapters, he expresses as a person who can fight against standardized society " 'Did you ever feel,' he asked, 'as though you had something inside you that was only waiting for you to give it a chance to come out?' " Pg. 59.  He is afraid that they will listen to his rational thoughts because they go against the parameters of that world, he is a nervous person but in a very alarming way. "When people are suspicious with you, you start being suspicious with them'" Pg. 60.

Likewise, his physical aspect is criticized, although his position is very high, he has a lower height "He stood eight centimeters short of the standard Alpha height and was slender in proportion. Contact with members of the lower castes always reminded him painfully of this physical inadequacy." Pg. 55.  He is a person who has emotions and can think rationally, although, he is in love with Lenina (beta member), so, his love guide him to consume Soma, a drug that he unusually consumed. We can conclude that Bernard has a weak personality.

Finally, the last chapter (6) ends when Lenina and Bernard went to the Savage Reservations under Soma effects, that establish the influence that Lenina have on Bernard, and I think that this influence is gonna affect it in bad terms.
